FIVE SENTENCED IN WAYNE COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT

Five defendants were sentenced this week in Wayne County Circuit Court in cases involving drug, DUI and trespassing offenses.

On Thursday, Judge Denton Aud sentenced 60-year-old John Rankin of Carmi after Rankin pleaded guilty to criminal trespass to land, a Class A misdemeanor. Rankin was placed on one year of court supervision and ordered to pay court costs.

Twenty-seven-year-old Dominick Lurz of Fairfield admitted violating a previous 24-month probation order stemming from an unlawful possession of methamphetamine conviction. Lurz was sentenced to a new two-year term of probation and ordered to pay court costs. He also received a stayed 180-day Wayne County Jail sentence that could be imposed if he violates the new probation terms.

Thirty-four-year-old Ashley Hutcheson of Mt. Vernon pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 24 months of probation. She was also ordered to pay court costs and perform 30 hours of public service work. Hutcheson received credit for three days previously served in the Wayne County Jail. One additional count was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

In court Tuesday, Judge Matt Vaughn sentenced 48-year-old Jeremy Payne of Mt. Vernon to five days in the Wayne County Jail on a previous DUI charge, with no day-for-day credit allowed. Payne was also sentenced to 24 months of probation, ordered to pay court costs and required to perform 240 hours of public service work.

Also Tuesday, 48-year-old Rosendo S. Galvan Hirales of Fairfield was sentenced to one year of court supervision and ordered to pay court costs on a DUI conviction.
