Fairfield Memorial Hospital will host a 3-D Mobile Mammography event on Saturday, September 5.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, 303 N.W. 11th Street in Fairfield.
The mobile unit will provide 3-D mammography, also known as tomosynthesis. According to the hospital, the technology provides layer-by-layer evaluation of breast tissue, offers greater accuracy and can help detect suspicious areas more easily while using a lower radiation dose.
Medicare covers the screening, according to the event information.
Women over age 40 do not need a physician’s order for the screening as long as it has been at least one year since their last mammogram.
Those attending should bring their insurance card, photo identification and their doctor’s contact information.
