Christopher Rural Health Planning Corporation plans to build a new medical facility on the courthouse square in downtown Albion.

CEO Kim Mitroka said the clinic will be constructed on donated property at 19 North Fifth Street. The property was donated by Keep Albion Beautiful, LLC.

Mitroka said CRHPC has outgrown its current leased location at 33 North Main Street and has spent more than a year securing funding for the project.

Construction will be supported by a $2.23 million grant through the Illinois Community Health Center Construction Grant Program. CRHPC was among 21 community health centers sharing $50 million in state funding.

The new facility will offer medical, behavioral health and dental services. Medical and behavioral health care are already offered in Albion, while CRHPC is recruiting a dental provider.

Mitroka said the building will be designed to complement the historic storefronts surrounding the courthouse square.

Officials hope to break ground this fall and have the new clinic operational in 2027. Construction bids are currently being sought while required state regulatory work is completed.
