The Illinois Department of Transportation is accepting applications for grants that will provide accessible paratransit vehicles to public transportation providers and eligible nonprofit organizations.
Municipalities, local governments and nonprofit agencies that provide specialized transportation for seniors or individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is September 21.
Through its Consolidated Vehicle Procurement program, IDOT purchases accessible paratransit vehicles on behalf of eligible recipients using various federal funding sources.
Applications from agencies receiving Federal Transit Administration Section 5307 or 5311 funding for public transportation operations will be approved as long as the submitted information is complete and accurate. Vehicles will be distributed equitably among eligible applicants.
Other applications will be evaluated based on existing service levels, vehicle utilization, asset maintenance, management capacity and coordination with other transportation providers and human service transportation programs.
Applications must be submitted online through IDOT’s transit grant management system. For more information, please contact Zoe Keller, IDOT’s section chief of consolidated vehicle procurement, at Zoe.Keller@Illinois.gov
IDOT expects to announce grant awards this fall.
