THYROID MEDICATION RECALLED OVER SUPERPOTENCY CONCERNS

By Mark Wells Aug 29, 2026 | 6:58 AM

Vitruvias Therapeutics is voluntarily recalling one lot of thyroid medication because the tablets may be stronger than intended.

The recall involves Thyroid Tablets, USP 30 mg, lot number 504950, which were distributed between Jan. 31 and Sept. 30, 2025. The medication expires Sept. 30, 2026.

The company says taking superpotent thyroid medication could cause an overactive thyroid and related health problems. Older adults, pregnant women and infants may face greater risks from excessive treatment.

Patients taking medication from the affected lot are advised not to stop treatment without first contacting their healthcare provider for guidance or a replacement prescription.

No adverse events associated with the recall have been reported.
