Wabash General Hospital is moving forward with plans to install a new digital sign at its Carmi Medical Clinic.
During last Monday’s Board of Directors meeting, President and CEO Karissa Turner requested authorization to spend up to $75,000 on the project. The board unanimously approved the request.
Turner said the proposal from Signarama falls within her normal spending authority, but the project was not included in the previously approved $400,000 budget for the Carmi clinic, prompting her to seek board approval.
The digital sign would use the framework of the clinic’s existing sign, which is located in a high-traffic area. It would be similar to the digital sign currently used at Wabash General’s Grayville location.
Board members discussed investing in a permanent sign at a building the hospital leases rather than owns. Officials said the digital sign could be relocated if necessary, although Wabash General would be responsible for the moving costs.
Hospital officials are also determining whether additional permits will be required to convert the existing sign to digital.
The $75,000 authorization provides flexibility for possible landscaping and other work associated with the project.
