Motorists traveling Interstate 64 toward St. Louis can expect construction and possible delays beginning today (Monday) near Nashville.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says I-64 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between mile markers 45 and 55 for road and bridge improvements.
The restrictions are expected to remain in place as work progresses on the project, which is anticipated to be completed in late fall 2028.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to consider alternate routes when possible.
Drivers traveling through the work zone are urged to reduce speed, watch for changing traffic conditions, obey construction signs and avoid using mobile devices.
