Wabash County State’s Attorney Kelli Storckman has been appointed special prosecutor in the White County criminal case against Roy D. Finley of Fairfield. Finley faces aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 3 felony, and disorderly conduct, a Class A misdemeanor.
The charges stem from an alleged confrontation with Carmi attorney Jonathan Turpin near Turpin’s West Main Street home and office. Authorities allege Turpin confronted Finley about taking video of his property when Finley opened his truck door, knocking Turpin to the ground.
Finley’s criminal case is scheduled for a September 19th status hearing.
In a separate matter, Turpin obtained an emergency order of protection against Finley in Wayne County. Finley has filed a motion seeking to disqualify Judge Matt Vaughn from hearing matters involving the order after acknowledging he contacted Vaughn’s wife in June regarding an overlapping protection-order case.
Vaughn has asked the Chief Judge’s office to assign another judge to consider Finley’s request for substitution. The matter remains pending.
