A former Fairfield Memorial Hospital House Charge Supervisor has filed a motion seeking to withdraw his guilty plea to a methamphetamine possession charge.
40-year-old Atilla Caldwell of Fairfield pleaded guilty last June to possession of methamphetamine. He was placed on two years of probation and ordered to pay fines, fees and court costs.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed four firearm-related charges, including three counts of possessing a firearm without a valid FOID card and one count of possessing ammunition without a valid FOID card.
Caldwell was arrested in April 2024 after Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at his Fairfield home. Authorities reported recovering methamphetamine, 15 firearms, ammunition and digital scales. Police also reported finding a sawed-off shotgun and an alleged firearm silencer.
Caldwell, through attorney Roger White, has now filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea.
A hearing on the motion is scheduled for October 8th in Wayne County Circuit Court. If the request is granted, the firearm charges dismissed under the plea agreement could be reinstated.
