(Pittsburgh, PA) — One member of the Steelers’ secondary has a tough decision to make. Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. spoke for the first time amid contract negotiations and was noncommittal when asked if he would play without a contract extension. Porter practiced Tuesday for the first time since being activated off the physically unable to perform list. The 26-year-old said he doesn’t know what is holding up negotiations and mentioned it’s up to the guys upstairs.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Bengals are expecting to have a healthy receiving corps for Week One. Head coach Zac Taylor indicated yesterday that wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins should be ready for the season opener. Chase is still dealing with a hyperextended left knee he suffered last week, while Higgins is battling a bruised heel. Cincinnati opens the year on September 13th when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium.

(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers continue to monitor the Josh Jacobs case. General manager Brian Gutekunst said Tuesday the organization has not seen the video evidence that was referenced by prosecutors in the criminal complaint that was part of charges filed last week against Jacobs. The Packers’ running back was formally charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property last Thursday. Jacobs has been placed on the commissioner exempt list.

(Indianapolis, IN) — Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen is expected to play in the season opener despite his arrest over the weekend. General manager Chris Ballard says the 34-year-old deserves “some grace” as a high-character person who made a mistake. Allen was arrested Sunday for allegedly driving drunk. The NFL could hand down punishment under its personal conduct policy.

(Allen Park, MI) — The Lions will have a shorthanded backfield to start the season. The team announced Tuesday that running back Isiah Pacheco was placed on injured reserve. Pacheco was dealing with an MCL sprain in addition to a recent back injury that he suffered during training camp. He is eligible to return after the first four games. Detroit opens the regular season when it hosts the New Orleans Saints on September 13th at Ford Field.

(East Rutherford, NJ) — Giants fans won’t have to make a new investment to support one of their favorite players. Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. hit the practice field Tuesday wearing his familiar number 13. OBJ had been wearing number three, the same number he wore in high school and college, but reclaimed 13 once fellow wideout Jalin Hyatt was placed on the practice squad. Hyatt is now wearing number 81.

(Anaheim, CA) — The Los Angeles Angels are under new ownership. Rams owner Stan Kroenke announced that he has a deal to buy the ballclub from Arte Moreno and his family. The sale price was not disclosed, and the agreement has yet to be approved by the remaining Major League Baseball owners. Moreno had owned the Halos for 23 years, including a postseason drought that’s expected to reach a 12th year this season.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The 76ers are hoping to get some life out of fringe NBA players. ESPN reports the team signed Tacko Fall, Saint Thomas and Jameer Nelson Jr. on Tuesday. All three players will attend training camp in New Jersey later this month. Fall is a seven-foot-six center who last played in the league for the Cavaliers in 2022. Nelson’s father is the executive VP of basketball operations for Philly.

(Undated) — Victor Oladipo is not giving up hopes of resuming his NBA career. The 34-year-old guard asked the league’s general managers for a chance to play again, writing in The Players’ Tribune that he’s healthy and has a lot of good basketball ahead of him. Oladipo held a private pro day in July to show the NBA that he’s back to his pre-injury form. The two-time All-Star hasn’t played more than 42 games in a season since 2019, when he suffered the first of several devastating leg injuries.

(Newark, NJ) — The Devils are adding a proven top-six forward to their lineup. The team acquired Luke Evangelista from the Predators on Tuesday in exchange for a conditional first-round pick in 2028, originally belonging to the Avalanche. Nashville is also getting a second-rounder from New Jersey in the same draft. Evangelista scored 12 goals and a career-high 56 points last year.
