The annual Elm River Chowder will be held Saturday continuing a tradition that has lasted more than 100 years.
The event will take place four miles east of the Rinard Crossroads, with signs posted to help visitors find the location. The chowder is funded entirely through donations.
Vegetable preparation will begin no later than 7 a.m., and volunteers are welcome to help. The soup is expected to be dipped at approximately 12:30 p.m. Attendees are reminded that no glass or plastic containers will be accepted.
A food stand will offer pulled pork sandwiches and nachos, hot dogs, homemade pies and cold drinks. Chowder will also be available by the bowl, with seating provided.
The day will also feature live music and door prizes.
