The Illinois Department of Transportation will suspend many non-emergency road closures over the Labor Day weekend to help reduce travel disruptions.
Closures will be suspended where possible from 3 p.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. Monday, although several area work zones will remain in place.
In Wayne County, lane reductions will continue on Illinois Route 15 over the Little Wabash River, about six miles east of Fairfield, with traffic controlled by temporary signals.
In Richland County, lane reductions and temporary signals will remain on Illinois Route 130 over the East Fork Fox River, about a mile north of Olney.
Lane reductions also remain in Effingham County on I-57 near the Green Creek Rest Areas north of Effingham and on I-70 at Altamont.
IDOT advises motorists to allow extra travel time, obey work-zone speed limits and remain alert for workers and equipment.
