Sheryl Lynn Walker, 59, of Fairfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at her home. Born on September 23, 1966, in Fairfield to Kenneth and Marilyn (Blackford) Meritt, she worked for the Southern 14 Workforce Investment Board as Fiscal Officer after graduating with her associate’s degree at Frontier Community College. Sheryl was a loving wife, mother, nana, daughter, and sister.
Sheryl is survived by her husband Donald Walker of Fairfield, son Eric Walker of Fairfield, daughter Amie (Brandon) Elliott of Union, MO, grandchildren Aiden and Camden Elliott, parents Kenneth and Marilyn Meritt of Fairfield, sisters Lee Ann (Richard) Montgomery and Lisa Meritt of Fairfield, and niece Jenna Allison of Fairfield
Sheryl will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, September 9th at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 AM until the time of service at the funeral Home.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home.
