Donations are being sought to help continue the work of the Dr. Dennis Scranton Memorial Cancer Fund, which assists local cancer patients with travel and treatment-related expenses.
The fund was established in 2004 following the death of Fairfield physician Dr. Dennis Scranton and relies entirely on donations from the public.
During the past year, more than $18,000 was distributed to area cancer patients, nearly depleting available funds.
The program is administered through Wayne-White Electric Cooperative in Fairfield.
Individuals, businesses and organizations wishing to contribute may mail donations to the Dr. Dennis Scranton Memorial Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 700, Fairfield, Illinois.
