A Mt. Carmel man faces multiple charges after authorities say he carjacked a vehicle and struck several people following an altercation at Mesa Lake.

Wabash County Sheriff Derek Morgan says the incident happened Saturday, September 5th and involved 20-year-old Jagger O.T. Gourley of Mt. Carmel.

Authorities allege Gourley sped away in a vehicle he had taken while passengers were getting out. He then allegedly stopped, backed up and struck several people in the area.

One person was taken to a local hospital, while two others did not seek immediate medical treatment.

Gourley reportedly left the scene but later contacted the vehicle’s owner and provided information about where the car had been left.

He was arrested on allegations of vehicular hijacking, reckless driving, failure to remain at the scene of a personal injury accident and failure to report a personal injury accident.

Gourley was initially jailed but was released Monday with a notice to appear in court.
