U.S. Representative Mike Bost has announced more than $2.3 million in Federal Aviation Administration grants for safety and infrastructure improvements at two southern Illinois airports.
Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois in Marion will receive $1,176,548 to purchase a new aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle. The funding will also provide protective equipment and medical kits aimed at improving airport safety.
MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah will receive $1,149,763 for improvements to bring the surrounding landscape into compliance with current FAA standards.
Bost said Veterans Airport and MidAmerica are important transportation assets as southern Illinois continues to emerge as a transportation hub.
He added that the federal investments will help provide safe and reliable infrastructure while protecting travelers and supporting economic opportunities throughout the region.
