Vickey Sue (Melton) Shaw, 76, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, surrounded by her family, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL following a short battle with cancer. Vickey was born on September 1, 1950 in Fairfield, IL to Harvey Burl Melton & Marcia Mae (Chambers) Melton.
Vickey was a homemaker, devoting her life to taking care of her family. She loved the outdoors, and enjoyed flower gardening, birdwatching, and rock hunting. She loved her pet cats, and she loved spending time with her family and enjoying visiting with her grandchildren.
Vickey is survived by her 5 children: Tom (Tracy) Cannon, Tricia (Jim) Shehorn, Bob (Hallie) Cannon, Stacy (Ryan) Austin, and Joe Cannon; 14 grandchildren: Rachel, Billy, Phillip, Keith, Harley, Brice, McKenzie, Connor, Claire, Tori, Ashlee, Caisie, Shiann, and Aria Jo; 20 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; her brother Bill Marsh, her 2 sisters: Peggy Mays and Connie Melton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey & Marcia Melton, her son Billy Cannon, and her former husband Bill Shaw.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Young Funeral Home in Wayne City is assisting the family with arrangements.
