Three defendants were sentenced Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court, including two men who received prison terms and another who was sentenced to probation. Damon M. Irwin, 48, of Fairfield was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to aggravated battery, a Class 2 felony.
Court records show the charge stemmed from an August 10, 2026 offense. Irwin entered his guilty plea on August 13 and was sentenced Tuesday. He was also ordered to serve one year of mandatory supervised release following his prison term and received credit for eight days previously served in custody.
Lonnie L. Griffith, 48, was sentenced in two separate Wayne County cases Tuesday.
In one case, Griffith received five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals, a Class 4 felony. The offense dates to July 29, 2026. He received 20 days of credit for time already served.
In a separate case, Griffith was sentenced to five years in prison for unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony, stemming from an August 19, 2026 offense. The court ordered that sentence to run concurrently with the sentence in the animal cruelty case.
Court documents also indicate several other pending cases against Griffith were dismissed as part of the plea proceedings.
Terry R. Lee II, 55, of Grayville was sentenced to two years of probation after being found guilty of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.
Lee had previously been sentenced to probation in the case and admitted in June to violating the terms of that probation. As part of Tuesday’s sentence, Lee was ordered to undergo an alcohol and drug assessment and comply with any recommended treatment. A review hearing is scheduled for April 8, 2028, at 9 a.m.
