The Lady Mules Volleyball team was in action Thursday night for their first conference matchup of the season against the Flora Lady Wolves. The Freshman squad defeated Flora in 2 Sets: 25-17 and 25-16. The JV team also picked up a 2-set win 25-11 and 25-6. The Lady Mules Varsity squad completed the sweep with their own 2-set victory 25-7 and 25-11

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TENNIS:
The Fairfield Lady Mules Tennis team pulled out a hard fought 5-4 victory over Mt. Carmel on Thursday at the Lakeside Tennis Courts. The Lady Mules picked up Singles victories from Kenry Hutchcraft, Malia Austin, Ella Gonzalez, and Malori Simpson. They also picked up a Doubles win from the team of Ella Gonzalez and Malori Simpson.

Rush started the season opener, but Penix is working towards assuming the starting job after recovering from a torn ACL. Atlanta will host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

(Undated) — Former New York Knicks big man Mike Sweetney has died at 43. Sweetney’s wife, India, announced his death Thursday in a social media post. No cause of death was announced. Sweetney starred at Georgetown University before being drafted by the Knicks with the ninth overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He spent two seasons with New York before being traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2005.
