The Edwards County Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education will meet Monday night with the district’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget, athletic event admission prices and several maintenance and personnel matters on the agenda.
The evening will begin with a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. in the K-12 Band Room. The hearing will provide an opportunity to review the district’s 2026-2027 school budget. The regular board meeting will follow at 7 p.m.
During unfinished business, the board is scheduled to consider approval of the FY27 budget. The board will also discuss student admission prices for athletic events, with possible action.
Other new business includes presentation of the annual administrator and teacher salary and benefit report for the 2025-2026 school year and discussion of maintenance projects, including the Vocational Building bells and phone system. The board will also consider approval of trips over 150 miles.
Board members are scheduled to consider several district policies dealing with attendance and truancy, harassment of students, and prevention of and response to bullying, intimidation and harassment. The agenda also calls for consideration of a resolution involving the permanent transfer of Working Cash funds to the Operations and Maintenance Fund, adoption of WOVSED procedures for administering special education services and acceptance of donations over $500.
Superintendent David Cowger’s report is expected to include a Kemper Annual CPA Engagement Notice, cafeteria and sales tax reports, the IASB Wabash Valley Dinner Meeting, a WSGS softball light update and an update on Vocational Project expenses. Administrative reports from district principals are also scheduled.
The board is expected to enter closed session for matters involving personnel, litigation and student discipline.
Personnel items listed for possible action include a resignation, employment considerations for a WSGS volleyball coach, aide, ECHS baseball and softball positions, along with volunteers for WSGS volleyball, AGS boys basketball and Edwards County Junior High cross country. A leave of absence is also listed.
The meeting will conclude with any necessary action following the closed session.
