The Fairfield Lady Mules had their home opener Tuesday night at the Mule Barn and came away with a clean sweep of Hamilton County.
Fairfield’s freshman squad took its match in straight sets, 25-16 and 25-22.
The Lady Mules JV team followed with a dominating performance, defeating Hamilton County 25-7 and 25-10.
In Varsity action, Fairfield completed the sweep with back-to-back 25-9 victories over the Lady Foxes.
The Varsity Lady Mules improve to 18-5 overall and 2-0 in Black Diamond Conference play.
Fairfield will be back in action Thursday on the road at Eldorado. Freshman, JV and Varsity matches are scheduled, with the first match beginning at 5 p.m.

The Cubs and Marlins needed a dozen innings to get through their series opener from Wrigley. The Marlins exploded for six runs in the 12th to earn an 8-2 win. Chicago still holds an NL Wild Card spot as the series continues tonight. The Cubs are getting great news on their star third baseman. The team isn’t ruling out an Alex Bregman return for this weekend’s series against the Red Sox in Boston. The 32-year-old suffered several facial fractures after getting hit by a foul ball last weekend. Bregman will try to get some work in before the playoffs begin next week with the Wild Card round.

(Atlanta, GA) — The Hawks and Hornets are swinging a minor trade. Atlanta acquired Dorian Finney-Smith from Charlotte on Tuesday in exchange for Buddy Hield and Ryan Nembhard. ESPN reports Nembhard will likely get waived as both teams earned trade exceptions with the deal. Finney-Smith is coming off an injury-riddled season while Hield appeared in just seven games for the Hawks last year.

The club announced Tuesday that the interim tag has been removed from manager Andy Green, and the two sides have agreed to a three-year contract through the 2029 season.
