Three Wayne County high schools have been recognized by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission for strong financial aid application completion rates among students.
Wayne City High School earned a Gold Medal with a 93% FAFSA completion rate, while Cisne High School also received Gold Medal recognition with an 89% completion rate.
Fairfield Community High School received a Silver Medal after achieving an 83% FAFSA completion rate.
Elsewhere in the area, Flora High School earned a Silver Medal with a 76% completion rate, while Clay City High School received a Bronze Medal with a 69% completion rate.
The schools are among 539 Illinois public and private high schools named 2026-27 Financial Aid Application Completion Recognition of Excellence honorees. The number of schools recognized increased nearly 15% from last year.
The FAFSA determines eligibility for federal and most state financial aid, as well as financial assistance offered by many colleges and universities. Illinois public high school seniors are required to complete either the FAFSA or the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid as part of graduation requirements, unless a parent or guardian submits an opt-out form.
Each recognized school will receive an award banner from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to display at the school.
