More than 25,000 bottles of a prescription medication are being recalled because of concerns over how the tablets dissolve.
India-based Inventia Healthcare Limited has recalled certain 25-milligram chlorthalidone tablets following recalls initiated in June and September.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, the tablets failed dissolution specifications, which can affect how quickly and effectively the medication’s active ingredient is absorbed by the body.
The recall involves chlorthalidone packaged in 100- and 1,000-tablet bottles with an expiration date of April 2027.
Chlorthalidone is commonly prescribed to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention.
Patients taking medication affected by the recall are advised not to stop taking it without first speaking with their healthcare provider.
