AREA SPORTS RESULTS FROM FRIDAY:

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL:

It was homecoming at Fairfield on Friday night as the Fairfield Mules faced off with Black Diamond Conference rival the Flora Wolves. Both teams came in with a 5-1 record and were looking to claim 2nd place in the conference. Despite only being down 14-8 at halftime, the Mules were unable to keep pace with Flora’s high-powered running game and fell to the Wolves 31-16. Fairfield was able to contain Flora’s all-time leading rusher, Kormick Massie, in the first half, however Massie eventually amassed 206 yards on the night.

The Mules were led by Michael Barner who had 10 rushes for 103 yards and 1 touchdown. The Vaughan’s Tire Offensive Player of the Game was Grant Otey, who had 14 rushes for 56 yards. The Peoples National Bank Offensive Play of the Game was Alex Basnett’s 60-yard passing touchdown to Breychan Kovacich.

On Defense, the Mules were led by Aiden King who 3 solo and 8 assisted tackles and the Potts Family Pharmacy Defensive Player of the Game Clinton Odell who had 5 solo and 4 assisted tackles. The One Step Ahead and HME Defensive Play of the Game was a 3rd Quarter interception by a returning Austin Grieve, who missed the last 4 games with an injury.

The Mules will be on the road next week to face the 2-5 CZRE Bearcats.

At halftime of the Homecoming game, the 2026 FCHS Homecoming Coronation was held with Aiden King being named Homecoming King and Wren Braddock being named Homecoming Queen
