HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL:
The Fairfield Lady Mules Volleyball Team swept Flora Tuesday night at the Mule Barn in Black Diamond Conference volleyball action.

Fairfield won the freshman match in straight sets, 25-7 and 25-5.

The Lady Mules also took the JV match in two sets, 25-11 and 25-14.

In varsity action, Fairfield dominated the Wolfgals, winning 25-9 and 25-2.

The Lady Mules varsity team improves to 23-5 overall and remains unbeaten in Black Diamond Conference play at 6-0.

Fairfield will travel to McLeansboro Thursday night to face the Hamilton County Lady Foxes at all three levels. The freshman match begins at 5 p.m., followed by JV and varsity.

Chicago is now 1-and-3 and will visit the Islanders tomorrow night. St. Louis is 1 and 2 on the young season. St. Louis hosts San Jose tomorrow night.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Johnson was ruled out due to a “personal reason.” The former first-round pick out of Oklahoma played and started in 171 games across 14 seasons, all with the Eagles, earning six Pro Bowl selections. Johnson was also a member of both Eagles’ Super Bowl championship teams.

Bo Horvat and Calum Ritchie were the goal scorers for the Isles, which have dropped two of their last three.

Danila Yurov and Maxim Shabanov were the goal scorers for Minnesota, which suffered its first loss of the season.

Jones was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville where specialists found a more serious problem and placed him on the heart transplant list.

He spent 30 seasons as a head coach at TCU, Texas A-and-M and Alabama after starting his career as an assistant at Kansas State in 1978. Franchione went 213-135-and-2 and led nine teams to conference championships and bowl games.
