A Pennsylvania man was found dead Wednesday morning at an Interstate 70 rest area between Effingham and Altamont.

Illinois State Police were contacted at approximately 8:34 a.m. after Illinois Department of Transportation workers discovered an unresponsive man lying outside his vehicle at the rest area.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes responded and pronounced the man dead at 9:10 a.m. He was identified as 60-year-old Bradley D. Boisen of New Holland, Pennsylvania.

Authorities said there were no obvious injuries, and foul play is not suspected.

Boisen was transported to the Effingham County Morgue, and his next of kin were notified. Family members told authorities that Boisen did not have a primary physician and they were unsure of his medical history.

An autopsy is scheduled in Olney to determine the official cause of death.

The death remains under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.

Also responding were Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, Rural Med EMS and IDOT.

The rest area where Boisen was found has been closed for several years and is currently undergoing renovation by IDOT.
