A historic farm home north of Albion was destroyed by fire around noon Friday at the landmark known as Tribe Hill along Illinois Route 130.
Albion Fire Chief Scott Meserole said firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed. The residence was one of two historic farm homes located across from each other at Tribe Hill.
According to Meserole, a family member had been burning debris when a gust of wind reportedly carried the fire to the structure.
Fire departments from Bone Gap, Browns and West Salem were called to assist Albion through mutual aid.
One firefighter at the Tribe Hill scene suffered heat exhaustion and received medical attention.
While crews were still working at the house fire, another alarm was reported in the Albion Fire District for a corn stubble fire west of Mount Zion Church, off the Red Hill Blacktop. The cause of that fire was not immediately known.
The Little Wabash Fire Department was called for mutual aid at the field fire.
