Judy Kay Pumphrey, 82, of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on Sunday, March 12, 1944, In Frederick, Oklahoma, the daughter of Raymond and Lena (Loftis) Bryan. Judy married James Robert Pumphrey on June 21, 2020, in Carmi. She attended Concord United Methodist Church. Judy was a collector and also enjoyed working in and caring for her flower gardens.
Judy is survived by her husband, James Pumphrey of Carmi, IL; her children, Pam (Mark) Berkaw and Bryan (Miranda) Higginson; grandsons, Clayton, Blake and Raymond Higginson; her stepson, Jason Pumphrey and Stepdaughter, Susan Pumphrey; nieces and nephew; her beagle, Sissy; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Linda Farrell.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Big Prairie Cemetery in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Linda E. White Hospice House, and will be accepted at Roberts and Cook Funeral Service, who has been entrusted with arrangements.
