The South Central Chapter of the Quail Upland Game Association (QUGA) held its fall meeting Saturday, October 10th at the chapter’s quail pens, where members conducted the drawing for their annual gun raffle and awarded several additional prizes.
This year’s raffle featured an expanded prize selection, increasing from the traditional three firearms to five prizes with the addition of a gun safe and an option for a registered bird dog puppy or cash. Winners were drawn in order, with the first name selected receiving the first choice of prizes, followed by the remaining winners.
Ted Hughes of the Xenia area was the first-place winner and selected a Savage .350 Legend rifle. Second-place winner Stephen Sork of Fairfield chose a 20-gauge TriStar over-and-under shotgun. Nick Tibbs of Wayne City claimed third place and selected $500 in cash.
Dennis Dozier of Fairfield was drawn as the fourth-place winner, while Larry Rich of McLeansboro claimed fifth place. Association officials reported they had not yet been able to contact Dozier to make his selection. The two remaining prizes are a Stack-On gun safe and a Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle.
State QUGA Chairman Jerry Johnson attended the meeting and provided several additional items for giveaways. All chapter members will receive QUGA-logoed hats this year.
Eight QUGA-embossed lock-back knives were awarded to Eddy Foster, Kiley Gwaltney, who won two, Greg Clancy, Amy Doty, Nick Tibbs, Branden Nelson and Bill Carrol.
Ken Trotter and Jim Coy were also selected as winners of wildlife scene pictures. Association officials are contacting prize winners as soon as possible.
The South Central QUGA Chapter expressed appreciation to the communities it serves for their continued support of the annual raffle and the organization’s activities throughout the year.
Proceeds from the raffle help support youth outdoor activities, provide seeds for conservation and wildlife planting, and assist with efforts to establish, maintain and promote habitat for wildlife species throughout the region.
