The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a career fair in Effingham next week, offering area residents an opportunity to learn about employment opportunities with the state agency.
The career fair is scheduled for Thursday, November 5th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Effingham County Emergency Management Agency, located at 311 West Miracle Avenue in Effingham.
IDOT representatives will be available to discuss technical and administrative support positions at multiple department locations throughout the region.
The event is open to job seekers from across Southern Illinois, including residents of Wayne, Clay, Richland, Marion, Jasper and surrounding counties.
IDOT Region Four Engineer Teresa Price says the event provides an opportunity for individuals to explore careers with the department, including positions offering training, mentoring and long-term professional development.
Representatives from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services will also be available to explain the state’s hiring process.
Attendees can receive assistance with creating a state employment profile, submitting job applications and learning best practices for pursuing employment with the State of Illinois.
Those attending are encouraged to bring a laptop to take advantage of the hands-on application assistance.
Staff from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office will also be present to answer questions about obtaining a commercial driver’s license, which is required for certain IDOT positions.
The career fair is free and open to the public. Registration is recommended but not required.
For additional information or to register, interested individuals can contact IDOT’s Office of Diversity and Recruitment at DOT.Recruitment@Illinois.gov.
Information about current IDOT job openings, salaries and employee benefits is also available through the department’s employment opportunities website.
