Mt. Vernon Festivals, Inc. will wrap up its 2026 Friday’s Food & Art series this Friday with a special evening honoring veterans and featuring live music, food vendors, local artisans and downtown shopping.

The free community event will take place from 5 until 8 p.m. at The Commons, located at 911 Broadway in Downtown Mt. Vernon.

This month’s theme, “Honoring Veterans,” will recognize the service and sacrifices of men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces ahead of Veterans Day on November 11th.

Angela Schrum, Director of Mt. Vernon Festivals, Inc., says the organization wanted to close out the season by recognizing veterans while bringing the community together for an evening of entertainment and fellowship.

Regional musician Matt Basler will provide free live entertainment throughout the evening. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the performance.

Several food vendors will be on hand, including Papa Knock’s Smoke Shop, ROCO’s Pizza, Henry’s Homestead & More, Buttercup’s Hand Dipped Ice Cream and Simply Scooped and More.

The event will also feature a marketplace showcasing local artisans, growers and small businesses. Vendors will offer a variety of handcrafted items, baked goods and other specialty products, providing an opportunity for visitors to begin their holiday shopping.

Downtown Mt. Vernon shops and boutiques will remain open late, allowing attendees to explore local businesses and restaurants while enjoying the festivities.

Schrum says the final event of the year is also an opportunity to thank the musicians, vendors, volunteers, sponsors and community members who have supported the Friday’s Food & Art series throughout the season.

The November celebration is sponsored by GreenTree of Mt. Vernon, Jacuzzi Bath and AT&T.

Admission is free, and the event is open to all ages. Veterans, their families and the entire community are invited to attend.
