The City of Fairfield during Tuesday’s City Council Meeting recognized 2 firefighters who have recently retired from the city fire department. Ron Gain retired from the Fairfield Fire Department after 45 years of service on June 29th while Gary Gain retired from the Fairfield Fire Department on August 31st after 37 years of service to the community.
A new Police Officer was introduced to members of the community who were at the Fairfield City Council Meeting on Tuesday. Police Chief Keith Colclasure introduced the newest officer, Logan Trent. Trent is a recent graduate of the police academ and is now on duty with the Fairfield Police Department. Trent joined the department on May 1st and is a 2019 graduate of Fairfield Community High School. During the meeting, Chief Colclasure mentioned that the department is almost at full strength with one officer out on active military duty.
In other business, the city approved a revolving loan request for RJ Marketing. The money requested by Claire Vaughan, owner of RJ Marketing, is going towards work on the roof of her building at 200 East Main in Fairfield. In street closure requests, the city approved the closure of a street for the veterans day parade for November 4th as well as SE 2nd Street between Deleware and Center Street. during the upcoming weekend for the Fairfield Fall Fun Fest. The city entered into a yearly agreement with the Fairfield Airport for maintenance. The council also approved the process to seek for bids for the chemicals for the water filtration plant. The council will wait until October to award that bid. Finally, trick or treating hours for Fairfield were set. The hours were set for October 30th and 31st from 5 PM to 8 PM both nights.
