Media reports and information from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says three people have died from an accident that occurred Saturday afternoon in rural Franklin County.
The accident occurred just before 5 p.m. along Benton Field Road and St. Joseph Road near Benton. Reports said emergency crews rushed to the scene, and the road was closed for several hours.
Two people were confirmed dead late Saturday afternoon, and the Sheriff’s office said a third person died Saturday night. Two other people were being treated for injuries. The names of the people involved were not immediately released.
The injured were taken by air-evac and ambulance for treatment. An Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene. Also assisting at the scene were the Benton fire and police departments, Illinois State Police and Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
