An area school is on the US Department of Education Office of Civil Rights watch list over incidents that have happened in the school district.
According to the US Department of Education website, Hamilton County High School is on the list of pending cases. The case according to the Department of Education deals with a title IX retaliation case. The case was opened on September 13th. According to the complaint, it involves an issue with bullying.
We have reached out to Hamilton County Unit 10 Superintendent Travis McCollum’s office. McCollum did not offer any public comment to the situation as the investigation is ongoing.
