Fire destroyed a mobile home north of Mt. Vernon, IL Thursday. According to media reports out of Mt. Vernon, IL, the fire was at the Rolling Meadows Mobile Home Park on Illinois Route 37 four miles north of Mt. Vernon, IL.
Wayne City firefighters provided mutual aid to the Jefferson County Fire Department, according to the report, by standing by at the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire. Firefighters from Kell, Bluford, and Mt. Vernon, along with Waltonville, also provided mutual aid. The fire call came in shortly after 11 Thursday morning.
Jefferson Fire reported the back of the mobile home was engulfed in flames when they arrived, and the fire was extinguished before making its way to the front, however the mobile home had heavy heat and smoke damage.
The fire is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office along with the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office.
