An accident in Washington County claimed the life of a Clay County teen and has put another one in the hospital.
According to officials in Washington County, a call into the Washington County Coroner’s Office came in at 6:05 Sunday Morning of a single vehicle accident on Illinois Route 127 around the Locust Creek Bridge. Upon arrival of the coroner, it wa determined that 17-year-old Robert Green of Flora was dead on-scene. Green was driving a Kia northbound on the roadway when the vehicle left the road, eventually going in the air and stirking the creek embankment. A passenger in the vehicle, Austin Reid was extracated along with Green from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.
ISP reconstruction accident officials also responded to the crash along with several agencies out of Washington County.
