Full Fairfield City Council Meeting Recap from 11/13

The Fairfield City Council met for their initial November session Tuesday evening.
The council awarded a bid to Kenny Construction of Raymond, IL to permanently patch the temporary asphalt patches on South First St. The patches were necessitated by numerous water leaks that required repair. The amount of the contract is $57,755, with 4 bids received. Motor Fuel Tax dollars will be used to pay for the project.
A contract was also approved to place an 8′ fence around the new water tower on NW 7th St. Tom Lucas of Oakland City, IN was the only bidder on the project. The contract amount is $22,388.
Christmas bonuses for full and part time city employees were approved. The amount for the 24 part time employees is a flat $125.00, with full time employees paid $200.00 plus $5.00 for every year of service to the city. The total cost of the bonuses is $19,725.
Aldermen voted to authorize the Risk Management Agreement with the Illinois Municipal League. The cost for the coverage is $207,908. The Insurance Committe had recommended staying with RMA.
A Supplemental Resolution to appropriate an additional $20,000 for the Frontier College Sidewalk Project was approved. Frontier is expected to assist with paying for the project.
Aldermen voted to cancel the December 26th council meeting due to the Christmas Holiday.
