Illinois is being awarded more than 95-million-dollars to improve passenger rail across the state. The funding was provided by the Federal Railroad Administration. Almost 94-million-dollars will be used to improve and modernize Chicago’s Union Station. The funds will help make Union Station more accessible to riders with disabilities, renovate the building’s outdated ventilation system, and expand station platforms to increase capacity for the nearly 120-thosuand riders that use Amtrak and Metra trains daily.
