The president of the Illinois NAACP is apologizing for disparaging comments she made about migrants. During an October Zoom meeting with NAACP leaders from around the state, Teresa Haley compared migrants to “savages” and accused them of rape. The comments prompted calls for her resignation. Haley released a statement yesterday saying she loves and values all members of our communities, including immigrants. She added that she remains focused on denouncing injustices, racism, and discrimination.
