More and more people are traveling to Illinois to get an abortion. The Illinois Department of Public Health’s annual abortion stats report shows more than 56-thousand were performed in Illinois in 2022, the same year the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. That is the most since the mid 90s. The rise in abortions that year was driven by a 49-percent increase in out-of-state patients. Nearly 17-thousand people came from other states to terminate a pregnancy in 2022.
