A Johnsonville man was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff’s Officials after a call about erratic behavior on Sunday. Upon arrival, deputies met with the complainant and located 30-year-old James R. Fenton of Johnsonville. Deputies discovered while on scene Fenton was in possession of a firearm and knew he was a convicted felon. According to deputies, Fenton attempted to go towards the firearm before it was secured. Deputies restrained Fenton before he could get to the firearm. While restrained, Fenton allegedly spat on authorities and continued to resist arrest. Deputies were eventually able to handcuff Fenton and search the property. While searching, deputies located suspected methamphetamine. Fenton faces charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of methamphetamine, and resisting and or obstructing a peace officer. Fenton was booked into the Wayne County Jail.
