Bill Would Help Keep Farmers on Their Farms

A bill under consideration in Springfield would help farmers stay on their land by raising the estate tax threshold for farms. Right now, the estate tax is set to kick in at four million dollars and the new bill would set the tax at six million. Analysts say the proposal would help heirs to the land keep the property so they don’t have to sell it to pay their taxes.
