A group of Republicans lawmakers in Springfield is introducing a package of bills to fight human trafficking in the state. One bill lets a juvenile petition the court to seal or expunge their record if the crime was committed while they were a victim of human trafficking. Another bill takes away the statute of limitations for prosecutions of involuntary servitude. A related bill would add the term “patronize” to the charge of involuntary sexual servitude of a minor. This bill would hold someone accountable as a sex trafficking offender if they’re charged with soliciting a child.
