Illinois lawmakers are looking at two bills that would provide students free school breakfast and lunches. One would make sure all K-12 schools could get the free meals and be reimbursed by the state for costs. The other bill would give schools up to 75-hundred dollars to create “breakfast after the bell” programs. It would also eliminate student co-payments for reduced-price breakfast and lunch recipients.
