Voter Turnout Low for Primary

Analysts say voter turnout so far for tomorrow’s primary in Illinois is significantly low, especially for a general election year. Typically, voter turnout is low in a primary year but not in a year when the presidential election is held. One Northwestern University analyst — Political Communications Professor Erik Nisbet — says turnout numbers are the lowest he has seen in more than a decade. Experts say “get out the vote” efforts will be more crucial than ever this year.
