The Fairfield Park District Board met for their monthly meeting July 11th.  Highlights of the meeting include:

Park Superintendent Chris Jenkins reported that he and his Park employees are hard at work mowing and keeping up with the general maintenance of the Park.

Jenkins reported that his inspection of the Frontier College softball field at Southwest Park revealed the need to repair the dugout roof, and he will see that such repairs are made. The roof replacements at various shelters due to storm damage will occur soon.

The Park Board discussed the OSLAD Grant to be filed by mid-September, 2024 for the construction of a new splash pad at Leo French Park to replace the baby pool. The old baby pool will be removed this fall after the swimming pool is closed for the season.

Jay Edgren reported that a recent pickleball tournament was well attended and thanked the Park District for use of the tennis courts. Future plans for pickleball courts were discussed.

Work will begin for repairs on Fairway #3. Estimates were accepted from Carter X, LLC for dirt work in an amount not to exceed $8,320.00 and from Grassmasters for new sprigs in an amount not to exceed $13,000.00.

The closing date for public swimming at the pool was set for Sunday, August 11, 2024. Private parties already scheduled after that date will proceed as planned.

The meeting was recessed and reconvened on Monday for the Public Hearing on the Appropriation Ordinance and to approve said Ordinance.

The Annual Appropriation Ordinance was approved after the Public Hearing was held.
