Depending on your location in southern Illinois, a Heat Advisory or an Excessive Heat Warning is still in effect until 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday)
The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Heat Advisory for almost all counties in Southern Illinois
During this period, heat index readings are forecasted to range between 105 to 110 degrees, with potential for even higher readings of up to 115 degrees in certain areas.
It’s important to note that incidents of heat-related illnesses tend to rise significantly during extreme heat and high humidity conditions. To stay safe and healthy, remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, seek shelter in air-conditioned spaces, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and regularly check on your family members and neighbors.
Additionally, if possible, bring your pets indoors to ensure they stay cool and comfortable. If bringing them inside is not an option, provide them with a shaded area outdoors along with an adequate supply of fresh water.
