MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

The St. Louis Cardinals were walked-off by the Pittsburgh Pirates during a 5-4, ten-inning loss in Pittsburgh. St. Louis tied the game at three in the top of the tenth when Willson Contreras smoked a two-run home run. Alec Burleson gave the Cardinals a lead with a sacrifice fly in the tenth, but Andrew Kittredge and JoJo Romero couldn’t hold the lead. Kittredge was charged with his fourth loss in relief. The Cardinals are still in second place in the NL Central at 44-and-41. Andre Pallante mans the rubber for St. Louis against Pittsburgh this morning at 11:35.

The Chicago Cubs surrendered a pair of runs during the eighth inning of their 5-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies at Wrigley Field. The game was tied at three before Edmundo Sosa and Whit Merrifield each drove in a run. Pete Crow-Armstrong had two RBI in the losing effort, and Tyson Miller was charged with his first loss out of the bullpen. The Northsiders remain in last place in the NL Central at 39-and-48. Jameson Taillon starts for the Cubs against Philadelphia this afternoon at 1:20.

The Chicago White Sox got an 8-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians in Cleveland. The Southsiders scored four runs in the top of fourth thanks to RBI singles from Martin Maldonado and Nicky Lopez, as well as a two-run double by Andrew Benintendi. Maldonado finished the game with a home run and three RBI, while Erick Fedde earned his sixth win by holding Cleveland to a run on three hits in six innings. The Southsiders are at the bottom of the AL Central at 25-and-63. The Sox take on the Guardians again this afternoon at12:10.
