It is with great sadness that we announce that David Thomas McGarvey Sr., 75, passed away at Linda E. White Hospice House with family at his side on Thursday, October 19, 2023. He was born March 19, 1948 to William Raymond McGarvey I and Lola Jewell (Simmons) McGarvey.
David was a US Navy Veteran. He also was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Some of the things he enjoyed were definitely good food and his diet coke. He liked going to visit at the Senior Citizen for lunch and visiting across the street for supper. He also loved attending the Ridge Baptist Church every Sunday.
He is survived by his brother Jerry (Betty) McGarvey of
Grayville, IL; his children Dawne McGarvey of Grayville, IL, David (Courtney) McGarvey Jr. of Albion, IL, and Lacy (Jeff) Chitwood of Dawson Springs, KY; his grandchildren Tyler, Destiny, Chloe, Brody, Mila, Noah and Peyton; and his one great granddaughter Naomi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, William McGarvey II of O’fallon, IL, Sandra (Richard) Lee of Davenport, IA, and Michael McGarvey of Grayville, IL.
The celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at The Ridge Baptist Church with a meal following the service.
