Loyd E. Young, 81, of Burnt Prairie

Loyd E. Young, 81, of Burnt Prairie, IL was called to meet his savior at 1:45 PM, November 15, 2023. Loyd was born September 12, 1942, to Beryl and Mary (Shaffer) Young in Lamard Township, Wayne County, IL.

Loyd was a retired owner-operator leased to Alton Delivery in Mattoon, IL for 23 years. He also owned Young Auto Sales of Cisne and Fairfield for 35 years and was assisted in the business by his brother Bill Young. Loyd was also a Veteran of the US Army during Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife and companion of 30 years together, Teresa Walker Elliott Young, his daughter Gina (Chris) Rinehart of Louisville, IL, grandsons; Boyd, Aleon, and Landis Rinehart and step-granddaughter Jessica (Luis) Macias with two step great-grandsons.

Stepchildren also include Faron (Jennifer) Elliott, Jeff Elliott, Denise A. Elliott, and Kellie (Josh) Coale. Step-grandchildren from this side of the family also survive, Tyler Elliott, Dalton Coale, Audrey Coale, Allie Grace Coale, Emmitt Coale, Billie Jo Townsend, Kaytie Elliott, and Jaymie Fry. The family also includes six step great-grandchildren with another on the way.

Sisters include Florence Legg of Phoenix, AZ, Phyllis Neavill of Enterprise, IL, Gracie (Chris) Barnett of Kingwood TX. Brothers; Ivan (Terry) Young of Lake Placid, FL, Ray (Marianna) Young, Henderson, KY, Danny Young, Fairfield, and sister-in-law Glenda Young of Fairfield IL.

Also survived by best friend and golf buddy of 58 years, Bob Price of Cave-In-Rock and Peoria, IL.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, brother William (Bill) Young, newborn daughters, Betty Jean (1965), Mary Kristen (1981) and Lisa Ann (1964) newborn sons; Michael Loyd (1971) and Robbie Douglas (1978), as well as a stepdaughter in law- Mitsy Elliott.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Burnt Prairie cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and memorabilia, memorials in Loyd’s name may be made to Johnson and Vaughn to assist with funeral expenses.
